Basics

Library and playlists

Browse your library, add songs to playlists, create a playlist, remove songs, and copy share links.

Orchard reads your YouTube Music library and playlists after you sign in, and it can add songs to your playlists.

Open your library

Select Your library in the left sidebar. The page shows how many songs, albums, artists, and playlists are loaded under the title.

The page has these filters: All, Subscribed artists, Albums, Songs, Playlists, Local playlists, and Local songs. Each filter shows its item count. The two local filters hold music from your own computer; see Local files and local playlists. In All, select See all on a shelf to open that category. Select Refresh to reload the library. The Refresh icon spins while the library loads.

Each empty category says what fills it. For example, the Albums category says “Albums you save to your YouTube Music library will appear here.” The page shows “Loading your library…” while it loads and “Refresh to try again.” when a category fails.

Filter your library

Type in the Filter box above the category filters. The page keeps items whose title, artist, or album contains your text. Select the × in the box, or press Escape, to clear it. A category with no match says “Nothing in … matches” and your text.

Sort your songs

Open the Songs filter. Select TITLE, ALBUM, or the clock icon above the list to sort by that column. Select a column again to reverse the order. Select # to return to the order from YouTube Music. Select the arrows button at the right end of the list header to sort by artist.

Playing a song queues the songs in the order you see.

Open one of your playlists

Select the playlist under PLAYLISTS in the left sidebar. The sidebar shows “Your saved playlists will appear here.” until playlists load.

A long playlist loads in parts. The playlist page shows a line such as “40 of 120 songs loaded” while it loads.

Add a song to a playlist

You must be signed in to YouTube.

  1. Right-click the song.
  2. Select Add to playlist….
  3. Select a playlist in the picker.

A playlist that already holds the song shows ”· added” after its name and is greyed out. The picker shows “No editable playlists yet” when you have no playlist that Orchard can change.

Create a new playlist from a song

  1. Right-click the song and select Add to playlist….
  2. Select New playlist… at the top of the picker.
  3. Type a name in the Playlist name box.
  4. Select Create.

The dialog says the song will be added to the new playlist, and that new playlists start private. Select Cancel to close the dialog without creating anything.

Remove a song from a playlist

  1. Open the playlist page.
  2. Right-click the song.
  3. Select Remove from this playlist.

The entry appears only on playlists that Orchard can edit.

Like a song

Select the heart button in the player bar or in the fullscreen player. Select it again to remove the like. See Play music.

Right-click a song, album, playlist, or artist and pick the copy entry:

  • Copy song.link for a song.
  • Copy album.link for an album.
  • Copy playlist link for a playlist.
  • Copy artist link for an artist (a YouTube Music channel link).

Album, playlist, and artist pages also have a share button that copies the same link. A song.link or album.link opens a page that lists the song on other music services.

Open an album or artist from a song

Right-click the song and select View album or View artist. A song with several artists shows a list of artists to choose from.
